The woman behind Kobeta
Julie Atenda
Julie Atenda is an entrepreneur, strategic advisor and specialist in digital transformation and artificial intelligence. She runs her own home fragrance brand, Alalela, so she knows the reality of a till, a stock and a deposit.
LinkedIn profileWhy I created Kobeta
A cash book tells you what came in. Accounting software speaks a language built for firms. In between, a hairdresser in Bandal who takes a 10,000 CDF deposit on a 40,000 CDF service does not always know what she has really earned. Kobeta is a clear-headed copilot: it separates what has been collected, what is still owed and what remains as contribution margin, here 31,000 CDF after 9,000 CDF of direct costs.
A vision for African women entrepreneurs
Kobeta is rooted in Kinshasa and Lubumbashi, designed for Brazzaville and Pointe-Noire, and connected to Brussels and the diaspora. It rejects the subsistence cliché: the traders, artisans, producers, coaches and consultants we work with are building real businesses, with margins, clients and growth plans.
What I believe
Autonomy, financial clarity, dignity and ambition. Knowing your numbers means setting your prices, turning down risky credit, negotiating with a microfinance institution. Mastering your numbers is not paperwork: it is freedom to decide.
